Ectropion Repair Patient 9
Oasis Eye Face and Skin | Ashland, Medford, Grants Pass, Oregon
This 82-year-old woman was bothered by a red, crusty, irritated lower eyelid. Her eye was also watery due to the lower eyelid gap. When the lower eyelid pulls away from the eye surface, it is called ectropion. In this case, it was caused by loose and detached ligaments. This is a very common condition due to aging or chronic rubbing of the eyelids. Dr. Schiedler performed an ectropion repair by tightening the inner corner of the eyelid ligaments to rotate it inward. The patient was happy with her improved eye comfort and her eyes no longer watered.
