This 72-year-old woman was referred to Dr. Schiedler by her eye doctor because of significant skin folds blocking her eyes. She become accustomed to struggling to see from underneath the large skin fold by using her forehead muscle and lifting her brow constantly. Board-certified oculoplastic surgeon, Dr. Schiedler, recommended upper eyelid blepharoplasty to remove a generous amount of loose skin, while addressing the noticeable asymmetry.

This woman was extremely pleased with her result and thankful to have her entire visual field restored. She was surprised by how other people interacted with her in a more positive way after her surgery. She felt more visible to and appreciated by others. Although, initially, she had been reluctant to have surgery, she came to realize how important our eyes are to our interpersonal communication.
