Upper Eyelid (Blepharoplasty), Ptosis Repair, and Skin Cancer Patient 13

Oasis Eye Face and Skin | Ashland, Medford, Grants Pass, Oregon

Featured here is a 63-year-old man who came to see Dr. Schiedler for heavy droopy upper eyelids, which was impacting his vision. He felt he had to drive “surprised” to see well enough and get the lashes out of his vision. The excess skin folds also felt sweaty and irritated in his eyelid skin. On exam, Dr. Schiedler noted muscle detachments in both upper eyelids as well as a suspicious lesion on one side under the fold.

Dr. Schiedler biopsied the lesion and confirmed skin cancer. She was able to remove the basal cell carcinoma with pathology confirmation of clear margins prior to continuing with the upper eyelid blepharoplasty and ptosis repair to reattach the muscles. Dr. Schiedler blended his skin cancer removal defect into the recontouring of the upper eyelid, providing him with natural results. He was very pleased with his improved vision and eye comfort.
